Course Requirements:

  1. This course requires hands-on experience using a cloud.
  2. Students will be required to complete 3-5 assignments using a private and/or public cloud.
  3. There will be 1 exam.
  4. Each student in CS591 will be required to select, present and lead a class discussion of one paper.
  5. All students will be required to write one 1- page summary paper for papers that are presented by other students.  CS591 students will choose one other presented paper and write a second review.
  6. Final Project:  Students will be required to identify a research project that applies some of the concepts learned in class to a research/design/implementation problem.  This will be a group project.  Each group will be required to write a paper describing the problem, indicating what work has been done by others on the problem and presenting a proposed/implemented solution to the problem.  (For 591 students, it is assumed the paper could serve as the basis for a grant proposal, conference or journal paper.)   In addition, each group will be required to make a BRIEF presentation on their final project.
